Well, about a month ago I went to Marche in the Curve for dinner. It was not a planned dinner, both of us were starving and we had hard time to choose the place to eat. So we ended up in Marche. It was our second time there, of course the environment was good, service was excellent though the food taste too bland for my Malay tongue..hahaha..Nevertheless we had good time and of course the expensive bills. I think the dinner bill could cater for a week’s meals..huhuhu…
So, to cut back on the budget, I resorted to cook at home for a week or two. Simple and delicious home cooked meals are not too hard to make, except sometimes the laziness seems to be enveloping my brain and limb..hahaha..
So for those who like to know how I cook the daging goreng with suhun (Beef fried with rice noodles), here it goes. Oh BTW, if you dont know what is suhun or rice noodle, check this page out.
1. Cut the beef anyway you like, but make sure you cut the right way so that the meat will stay tender. To know your type of beef -tenderloin, steaks, brisket etc check this page.
2. Wash it and add salt and turmeric powder onto your cut meat. Let it soak the taste for a while.
3. Put the rice noodle (suhun) in hot water if you need to soften them fast. Otherwise tap water will do. Once they are soften, drain the water and put them aside.
4. Prepare your tamarind paste. You need about 2 tablespoon of it in the dish.
5. Slice some big onion, red chili and ginger. Put aside about 2 tablespoon of soysauce. Kicap Tamin will do..hehehe
6. Heat the oil and throw in your beef. Wait until the liquid from the beef dry up a bit then throw in sliced onion, chili and ginger.
7. Put the tamarind paste, a little bit of salt, sugar (if you want), the soysauce and the soft suhun. Make sure the taste is right before you put the suhun it. Suhun dries up the liquid fast.
8. Mix them well and when the suhun is cooked, take them out and put in your plate.
