A Homemaker’s Diary

Waking Up To Calls & Emails

with 2 comments

I’m back to life as night’s owl again after being normal for a week..haha..today I woke up at 1pm to several missed calls and 15 emails in the inbox (those are not spam). My bunch of friends were circulating their own created rumors to fill up their boring working day..haha..I’m still sleeping while they have to go to work early in the morning.

I returned the calls and one of my clients told me that she’s coming over to pick more samples to show to the corporate people. You know how I hate handling corporate events. So this time, if there is any contract to do corsages or guest favors, let another party handle the deals, even if it means less money and profit for me.

So at first it’s the proposal for dinner corsages for some foreign delegates to wear on their dinner outfit. They want something traditional so I have to crack my head to come out with several designs in such a short notice. Actually I want to do some songket flower but since I don’t have any songket cloth, so save the idea for another day.

I came out with 3 designs for the corsages using whatever traditional raw materials I could find in my supply. This one use the cinnamon sticks and star anise. The other 2 I used rubber leaf and some mengkuang mat pieces. Then when the clients collected the samples last night, they were excited to see my range of guest favors and today they decided to take those as well to show to the corporate people.

They called in the morning around 11am and they even came in front of my house, honking and calling to no avail. I was sleeping like a log so I didn’t even hear the car horn. You see there is a lorry selling cooking gas always honking in the morning so I think my ear has been accustomed to not noticing the sound of any vehicle’s horn while sleeping..haha!

Then there is another friend’s missed call asking on behalf of another friend for IT services – whether we still do website design etc. I returned her call and gave the details and she will inform the friend.

Finally the corsage client came back again around 2:30pm to take the samples for guest favors.

I hope the corporate people will like at least any one of my designs and guest favors. Now I’m back to replying to the rumors emails. Just as you thought you could relax on Thursday..hehe..

I Will Not Be Cooking!

with 2 comments

Haha..this is not a protest against cooking. It’s just that I am planning to take 2 days break from cooking. I hope those leftover sambal bilis and sardin will do for midnight hunger.

Since it’s Thursday and Friday (well, Friday is pasar malam day, so official off cooking day), I will be taking like 2 half day time off (if you consider cooking is a full time, employed job, salary paid by hubby..haha!)

The picture? It’s the chicken rice I cooked last week. Now I have to think what to eat and where to eat on Thursday.

Getting Married?

without comments

I’ve been reading my weekly dose of women magazine and I noticed there are so many stories of plight about wives losing husbands, wife got sick and husband has to bear the burden of the medical cost, having children who suffered with illness and so on.

It makes me sad and in the same time realize that we often take for granted the happy time of wealth and health that have been bestowed upon us.

How many of us once getting married think that we should at least get a life insurance policy (at least) for ourselves in case something unfortunate were to happen to us.

Perhaps it would help if you spend some times reading all the life insurance tips on LifeInsuranceLowDown.com

And do you know that you can actually cash in your whole life insurance policy if you don’t need it anymore?

That would be a good way to clear all your credit cards debt once you retire and no longer have any dependent.

They have so many good articles that will broaden your existing knowledge about all kind of insurance available.

Check out the article on insurance terms for consumers.

It’s about time that you make sure you understand all the insurance jargons before you sign up the policy.

So you are getting married soon? Still don’t know how much life insurance you would need for your new life and family?

Don’t leave your wife miserable with the newborn baby to take care, you are meant to be a good provider even when you are gone forever!

On BodyBalance Class

with 3 comments

I used to join gym, especially BodyBalance class on Wednesday night (I even make it a sacrifice to miss CSI every Wednesday).

But now since hubby no longer could drive me to the gym (I’m incompetent driver to certain destination), we decided to burn the monthly gym fees.

You see, once you signed up for one year, you have to pay for one year fees whether you go and sweat yourself at the gym or not.

Well, I somehow stumbled upon this post by Kenny Mah (I think a Chinese friend told me about his blog but that time I didn’t check it). He posts about his BodyBalance training to be an instructor.

I’m not into training other people, it’s just for those who feel shy to join the BodyBalance class, I think that’s the least embarrassing class in the Les Mills programs.

Like Kenny said, nearly every major gym franchise in Malaysia runs them — different programs for different needs and tastes.

It’s a combination of Tai Chi, Yoga and Pilates. Taken from LesMills official website,

“BODYBALANCEâ„¢ is the Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates workout that builds flexibility and strength and leaves you feeling centered and calm. Controlled breathing, concentration and a carefully structured series of stretches, moves and poses to music create a holistic workout that brings the body into a state of harmony and balance.”

At the gym that I attended, the class will be a co-ed class but most of the time women dominate in attendance.

Who cares, I always take the front position so that I will be less distracted watching other people trying to balance themselves..haha!

Maybe you have heard about BodyPump, BodyCombat, BodyJam..huhuhu..These are all Les Mills programs too. I haven’t been able to try all those other classes because I can see that those are more energetic yet I like something not too strong. I hate those resistance and push up training.

If somehow you decide to join gym and they have BodyBalance class, give it a try. Who knows Kenny will be there as the instructor..haha!

New Blog – LamanHati.com

with 2 comments

I have decided to start a new blog solely about gardening and plants.

I found few great blogs on gardening that has inspired me to do the same.

sclamanhati.jpg

I hope by sharing what I know especially about plants found in Malaysia, it would help more people to gain new knowledge and plants awareness.

At the moment, I’m on a mission to find as many as herbs in Malaysia that have medicinal value and in the same time could be edible plants.

For gardening part, I’m looking for plants that have fragrance flowers and easy to maintain.

For now I have collected a few and would like to share whatever info I got on gardening with more people all over the world who share the same interest.

Come and join me at LamanHati.com
