For those who have watched movie Braveheart, you must be familiar with two of Scotland’s most famous historical men: Robert the Bruce and William Wallace.

If you happen to get the chance to be on the trip to Edinburgh, make sure you don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Edinburgh Castle. The figures of those two brave men who have both changed the course of Scottish history and responsible for the Scots winning their independence in 1314 at Bannockburn can be seen at the Castle entrance.

Finding accommodation in Edinburgh shouldn’t be a problem as there are many hotel packages and cheap hotels in Edinburgh that cater to all kind of tourists budget.

Do you know that according to the Scottish Place Names dictionary, the name Edinburgh means ‘Fort of the Rock Face’? The ‘edin’ part comes from Scottish Gaelic and means ‘rock face’, while ‘burgh’ comes from Old English meaning stronghold.

And if you happen to spend your new year break in Edinburgh, check out the famous New Year celebration called Hogmanay celebrations. The world famous street party will see people sing, dance, hug, kiss and celebrate the new year below the spectacular backdrop of Edinburgh Castle. And the best show will be the dazzling fireworks display launched from the Castle and six other sites through the city.

Make sure you have made reservation in any one of the hotels in Edinburgh for this year’s event!

I have been having 2 days off from cooking and as the result, I have been suffering from starvation and makan tak puas syndrome..huhu!

I was about to go to sleep just now when I browse through the cooking topic in one of the forums I usually read everyday. Normally I will only read about crafts and sewing and see whether any new items like perfume and tudung interesting enough to be bought, heh!

I think my motivation to cook has just been renewed. I think starting from tomorrow I will start making list of dishes that I will cook in November. In my mind, I’m drooling about sambal petai with udang, kari ikan, sambal telur (boiled then fried)..I think it’s time we pay a visit to the Pasar Borong Selangor looking for fresh ingredients. And it would be yummy to have ulam with sambal tempoyak and ikan masin goreng as well. I feel like cooking all these kampung recipes because I am sick of the usual menu that I always cook..heh!

This is what happen when you think about food with empty stomach..huhu!

I’m just sharing the article about my SOHO business with all the readers who happen to read my blog. I might be scanning the article soon but for now, you all can read it online until The Star archives it somewhere else..hehe!

Making up for a waning tradition

I woke up to several missed calls and SMS from people who read the article in the newspaper. Some are long lost friends, ex-colleagues, University friends and even potential clients and students. But not much traffic to the business website though even though the writer did mention my URL and all..heh!

For those friends who have been supporting me all this while, thank you so much!

End of this year (or maybe early next year), a few of our close friends are going to move into their new home. I am thinking about giving something personalized as housewarming gifts. If the time permits, maybe I will do something crafty with my collection of decoupage or scrapbooking items, but if not getting something on the shelves would be a good idea to save on time and effort.

I think for the couple who is going to move into their double storey terrace house, I will get them this personalized doormat. This doormat is cast aluminum from an original wood carving, with welcome inset plate or personalized characters. The mats are available in two colors – French bronze and pewter. It will be a nice idea to personalized the inset to be their family name, right?

As the doormat is a personalized gift, it will take around 5 weeks for manufacturing and ready for shipping. Maybe if they are going to move in next month and decide to throw the housewarming party soon, I need to look for other type of gifts that could be completed in faster time.

Getting address plaques or house signs as housewarming gifts will be a good idea as well. But of course I need to know their exact home address..heh!

I think if you are in real estate business, having all these items of house signs and address plaques will be a great closing gifts for real estate agents, builders and mortgage companies. But of course with such unique personalized gifts like doormats will also make great holiday or wedding gifts!

I always like Anuar Zain as a male singer and as a personality in the entertainment industry. His album is the only album I bought except for this new one. Usually I prefer to buy the compilation album because it has all the best songs. On a personal note, I hope he will find the best woman to complement his talent and to support his singing career.
