The Notebook

with 2 comments

As promised earlier, this is the picture of my new HP Compaq notebook. I’m not sure the exact model but it has 160GB of hard disk, 512 MB of memory which I add on another 1GB for additional RM120, and it comes preloaded with original XP Pro.

And the seller gave me a mouse and notebook cooling pad as free gift.

Now I have to find a better working surface other than this brown box..haha!

The Italian Journey

without comments

trevifountain.jpg

I was flipping the channels on Astro when the Travel and Living showed the journey to Italy. That time it was almost the end of the show and the host was throwing a coin into Trevi Fountain.

It was said that legend has it you will return to Rome if you throw a coin into the water. You should toss it over your shoulder with your back to the fountain.

Now this reminds me of the song Three Coins In The Fountain taught by my music teacher long time ago.

Even if you only have a short time to spend, make sure you have made reservation to stay in any of the hotels in Italy.

For example in Rome, I read that it is one of the most difficult cities in the world when it comes to finding good accommodation.

Just like the well-known idioms says, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do” therefore once you’ve got a room to spend the night in one of the hotels in Rome, check out their attractions such as the Spanish Steps – The Scalinata di Spagna, the Pantheon – monument of imperial Rome which originally a pagan temple and St. Peter’s Basilica to name a few.

As some claimed that Venice is the world’s most beautiful and unique city, you better book ahead for Venice hotels.

From one of the websites that I read, it says that the typical Venetian hotel is a former casa or palazzo with a limited number of rooms. This means that room shortages can occur at any time from spring through fall.

While you are in Venice, check out their places of interest such as the Grand Canal, St. Mark’s Square, the Palazzo Grassi and The Fenice Opera House.

For me, as long as I can be in Rome or Venice for once in my life time, I would be happy. After all taking the Italian journey is one of the many things I want to do in my life..heh!

An Early Anniversary Gift

with 2 comments

It was Deepavali public holiday on Thursday and Hubby initial plan was to go to work. But when I woke up at my usual “morning’ time he was downstairs doing his work on the laptop. I continued sleeping because I stayed up late and still need the 8 hours sleep..after all there was some leftover food in the fridge (I cooked fried macaroni the night before for supper) that Hubby can eat for lunch.

When I woke up later in the afternoon it was starting to rain and Hubby said we should go out as my plan to find the scissors and brushes for my decoupage class. I’m going to have 5 students coming over for this Saturday class and definitely my existing scissors and brushes can’t accommodate their needs..heh!

So off we went to Mydin Hypermarket USJ despite the disgruntled look and annoyed grumble from Hubby. Anti Mydin for his own reason..hehe! Was really glad that what I hope to find was there so I bought 2 dozens of scissors and 4 dozens of brushes (in case the class for 50 people at the Jabatan Kerajaan on 22-23rd Nov will be approved by the Datin Pengerusi..huh! Take ages for them to get the final decision, normal government attitude!)

Anyway, since I wanted to eat Chicken D’light at Delifrance, we went to Subang Parade after the fast shopping at Mydin. Actually I wanted to check out the price for RAM for a friend but it was too expensive and the exact memory specs was not available at their IT centre. Another reason to go to Low Yatt this weekend, yeay!

In the end instead of getting the RAM for my friend, I got myself a HP Compaq notebook. I told Hubby, he should consider this as this year wedding anniversary gift. I have been planning to get myself a notebook for many years now but every time I feel like buying one, I keep on postponing the act.

Now as I am typing this entry, I am sitting on my sofa in the living room with the notebook on my lap. Will get a better option for the correct surface to put it on later. I think I found one TV rack at IKEA in the catalog which suits the height and width that I need to do my work with this notebook, and better still with a price less than RM50.

In the meantime, if the class for the government club activity is on, maybe I can pay for the vacation that we plan to have during the anniversary week although we haven’t booked any place yet and it’s going to be school holiday soon. Otherwise it will be just nice to stay at home with this new notebook and Hubby around. It doesn’t matter whether we are going somewhere or stay home, being together is just a bliss. 🙂

Choosing An IT Career Path

with 3 comments

At the moment since I have no big project ongoing, I’m helping a friend who is doing her master degree in IT to complete the final thesis. I was thinking if I was inclined to IT and technical skills perhaps by now I am doing my own master thesis as well, but as you guys have read in this blog, my interest and passion is in crafts and business related to it.

Anyway, for those climbing up the corporate ladder in IT path, I think it is best if you get certification. With the technology changes as fast moving as now, it is crucial to keep abreast with the latest in the market and the only way to do so is by getting yourself a continuous education.

Of course you need to be aware of what specialization you would want to invest your time and energy into. Get as much information about different IT certification so that you wouldn’t feel like you are wasting your precious time, pursuing something which in the end you realize you have no passion in.

After all considering what school to further your studies and how good the quality of the IT programs they offer will ensure that you have the strong motivation to attend the classes especially after a long day at work and the weekend time that you have to sacrifice.

On Scrapbooking And Decoupage

with one comment

So for those who have been wondering what’s up with me since the weekend, well not much going on over here. Just the normal routine house chores and some craft tasks.

Saturday, I have one student coming over for scrapbooking class and I was happy to sell some of the items for her to start doing the craft at home. At least most of the Provo Craft and Rob and Bob Studio papers could be sold to my students as I have found new obsession for papers from Basic Grey. I am still waiting for the Wild Asparagus line of papers to arrive.

Then after the class we went to open house for Raya celebration. We managed to make it to 2 houses and let down the 3rd one..heh! I guess God has granted my wish to eat at people’s open house this year rather than hosting my own.

Oh, while waiting for the night open house invitation, we went to One Utama as I need to find more items for decoupage. Got another bunch of decoupage tissue and new color for the paint, yeay!

Sunday, before I went out for my final session of sinus facial, I cooked lunch for Hubby and did the laundry. As mentioned earlier, since I’ve been drooling for some kampung dishes, I cooked sambal udang petai and fried ikan masin. Then later for dinner I made kari ikan Indian style with fried kembung. So my cooking mission has been accomplished on Sunday.

Monday, since the laundry task has been done, I sealed the tin for this weekend decoupage class and painted the wooden box. Not much cooking as well since Hubby said the leftover would be fine for dinner. So I just fried some more fish to accompany the curry and reheat the sambal udang. After dinner while watching House, I managed to decoupage the wooden box with the new tissue I bought on Saturday. I will share the picture later, OK!

Since I have some free time in the evening while waiting for Hubby to come home, I made inti for karipap daging and that’s what we had for supper. I think if I continue not having any big craft project, Hubby will gain another 10kg in no time with all the eating and tasting new dishes..hehe!

NVM, I will clear up the living hall after 17th Nov and we can start doing the Pilates together..heh!
