Blue Sky Or White Cloud?

without comments

When you see this picture, what do you notice? The blue sky or the white cloud? Well, this is not really any trivia question. We were on our first plane ride as family recently. Dear Son was not so thrilled and decided to stay on Mama’s lap instead of sitting in his seat, and later fell asleep till we touched down.

But on the way home, he was OK with sitting on his seat, but still fell asleep till we reached LCCT. And when we walked down the tarmac, he noticed the other airplane. I think he just realized that we were on different kind of transportation than the usual Abah’s car..haha!

Well, son, we have to wait till next year to go on another airplane ride. Hopefully by that time you will be excited and amazed to see all this picturesque blue sky and white cloud.

Vacation Activity – Catch Crab

with 2 comments

Even on short vacation, I can be really restless. In May when we went to PD for a short trip, I decided to rent the crab net from the hotel. Here is the picture of the first crab we managed to catch during the night.

This is how the crab net looks like. There’s a hook on the top part of the net where you will put the bait, we were given squid and chicken pieces. I think if there’s like 2 or 3 more hooks the chances to catch more crabs will be bigger…not that I have any intention to eat them, given how dirty the bottom of the sea floor is under the hotel..huhu!

The morning on the day when we were supposed to check out, I checked the net and found 2 crabs. This time they were blue crabs. One lost its claw while trying to release itself from the net. I was so guilty when I released them back into the water but later found out that the claws can grow back..sigh!

The crab net comes with a long rope which you have to haul down the balcony railing into the murky sea water.

We tried fishing as well, but we have no luck catching any fish.

Decoupage On IKEA Plate

without comments

Last month was the first time I conducted decoupage class using plate as the medium. Usually I will use mug as it is smaller and easier to complete within 2 hours. But since IKEA no longer has the stock for such mugs, I decided to try using their plate.

The participants were quite happy during the previous class since they said the plate has bigger surface for them to pour their creativity. And the fact that they can use bigger motif from the paper napkin to fit on the surface of the plate means less time spent on the intricate cutting process.

The plate above was not completed fully when I snapped the picture. I helped the participant to do some shading around the motif to make it look less like a cut and paste job. I have to say decoupage is a great way for those with less ability and talent to draw and paint to actually do something nice on their own.

Bunga Pahar Dip Lily Biru

without comments

What do you love the most in wedding? Since I was young, I always love wedding. I love to see the beautiful creations people make for such event – how they decorate bilik pengantin, what kind of bunga telur they have at the pelamin, how they create the hantaran, well things like that.

I think what I love most is not so much of the face value of such stuffs but more of the deeper meaning and symbolic of it. Like how people do their best to come together into the new phase of life, with hope and determination to bring the best, it’s like you respect the other family and would give your very best to ensure that your spouse will have the nicest possible things you could afford.

If the groom or bride has big family and each one of the aunts and cousins contribute to the wedding, be it with their energy or their capability to create something nice, it proves that in time to come, they will come to your aid if you ever need them. Personally I can vouch for this. Those relatives who have contribute so much to my wedding are the same people who have been around in time of my need.

Oh, the pictures above are bunga pahar dip lily in blue (some think it’s turqoise) I made for my niece’s wedding in 2008. It has been a while since I make bunga telur for people. Now that I have a toddler, I no longer have the capability to take custom made order for bunga pahar or bunga telur, but if you want to make a similar kind of bunga telur on your own for your special day, I can teach at a fee.

Herbivore Dinosaurs In Pusat Sains Negara

with one comment

As you walk into the exhibition area for herbivore dinosaurs, you will be greeted with these bones structure of (real fossils?) dinosaur. I didn’t get to read about it as I tried my best to walk around in the exhibition area and take as much pictures as possible before my son cried for me.

Check out this funny looking, kepala gondol dinosaur..haha! I think its name is Pachycephalosaurus based on the picture of the information board I took next.

There are more pictures of herbivore dinosaurs to be posted later. Just need to find the time to edit them.

Come on parents, you still can make it to Pusat Sains Negara Dino Alive exhibition. It ends this coming 12 June 2011.
