The Italian Journey

I was flipping the channels on Astro when the Travel and Living showed the journey to Italy. That time it was almost the end of the show and the host was throwing a coin into Trevi Fountain.

It was said that legend has it you will return to Rome if you throw a coin into the water. You should toss it over your shoulder with your back to the fountain.

Now this reminds me of the song Three Coins In The Fountain taught by my music teacher long time ago.

Even if you only have a short time to spend, make sure you have made reservation to stay in any of the hotels in Italy.

For example in Rome, I read that it is one of the most difficult cities in the world when it comes to finding good accommodation.

Just like the well-known idioms says, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do” therefore once you’ve got a room to spend the night in one of the hotels in Rome, check out their attractions such as the Spanish Steps – The Scalinata di Spagna, the Pantheon – monument of imperial Rome which originally a pagan temple and St. Peter’s Basilica to name a few.

As some claimed that Venice is the world’s most beautiful and unique city, you better book ahead for Venice hotels.

From one of the websites that I read, it says that the typical Venetian hotel is a former casa or palazzo with a limited number of rooms. This means that room shortages can occur at any time from spring through fall.

While you are in Venice, check out their places of interest such as the Grand Canal, St. Mark’s Square, the Palazzo Grassi and The Fenice Opera House.

For me, as long as I can be in Rome or Venice for once in my life time, I would be happy. After all taking the Italian journey is one of the many things I want to do in my life..heh!
