Lotus Is Teratai

Went to Taman Tasik Cyberjaya for a short walk. Dear Son spent a good time playing at the big slide. I managed to snap these pictures of lotus in the lake.

I think this is the sacred lotus – Nelumbo nucifera.

Sometimes I get confused between teratai and seroja. I think the other type of water lily with no green seed pod is what Malays call as seroja. While lotus or teratai is the one that Buddhist considered sacred.

This is what I read on the Internet:

According to Buddhist tradition, the lotus has its roots in the mud (samsara), but the stem grows through the muddy water (purification) producing, above the water, a pure and beautiful flower (enlightenment).
