Have you heard about Boot Camps? I first heard about it while watching Desperate Housewives whereby Bree sent her son to boot camp because he has been very defiant and showing lack of respect to the parents. Of course in the end the whole thing did not work and he in return became a worse kid and made her decided to send him away from home. Well, that would be another entry if I were to discuss it here.
Anyway, if you have a teenage child who has been showing problems like uncontrollable anger, sudden outbursts, truancy at school, sneaking out at night or any other out of control behavior, maybe you should consider sending him/her to boot camp.
Be mind however that major consideration should be put beforehand once you decide to send your child to such camp. What a boot camp could provide for your child will be something related to discipline, teamwork and appreciation. It could not help when it comes to emotional and behavioral elements in struggling teenagers.
By learning through discipline maybe the teenagers will feel afraid that they will be sent to the boot camps again and decide to turn a new leaf in life. However it could not guarantee that the problem would be solved 100%. It could help if you send the teenage child early on during his or her problem phase.
The structured environment in a boot camp is similar to basic military training, with intense ordeal and lack of outside contact throughout the boot camp period. So make sure you really know what you are up to when deciding to send your teens to such camps. Of course as the parents, we could only hope for the best but getting to know your children is a better option before you take the choice to send them away for boot camps.
