Tiki Is Dying

It is with sad heart that I write this, as of today I notice that Tiki, my pet hamster is dying. I realized she has not been up to playing, eating and drinking for the past 2-3 days, but I was so busy and I just thought maybe she just like to hibernate. It was the same thing that happened to Toko a year ago but I just never thought that the time will come for her as well.

She is sleeping like a ball now, with sick eyes and wet tail, the same symptoms that happen to all old, dying hamsters. It’s hard for me to accept it but if she must go, I would let her go with all my love for her. I would rather it be fast than for her to suffer in so much pain.

I don’t know whether I will keep another pet after this, when they died it just so painful to accept. I hope she will be happy with Toko in hamster’s heaven soon!

This is the picture I took of her last April, it’s blur but this is her latest picture before she fall sick. This month I am so busy that I could not take any picture of hers. She was just being her playful self a few days ago but today she is so weak and doesn’t even have the energy to eat anymore.

I could take her to vet like what I did last time with Toko but I know there’s nothing that could be done with her condition now. So rather than let her die in vet’s place I would like Tiki to have her last breathe in her own place she loves so much. I hope I have been treating her good for this past one year.

May you go in peace, Tiki!

  1. not sure la ashrufzz, the rare cases hamster can live up to 3 years..but I hope Tiki has enjoyed her life all these while.

  2. the best thing you can do for tiki is to comfort her if she is struggling to walk around place her food bowl near her so its easy for her to reach her food make sure she has a good supplie of clean water at all times, her water in a drip bottle, make sure the room shes in is warm but not to hot. her water is fine to drink dont try feeding her sour milk or any other milk as it will make her ill just talk to her encourage her to eat and drink and be gentle with her all you can really do at this stage is is comfort her and be there for her. when she passes away it would be ideal to bury her in her house if you plan on burying your hamster in a garden make sure you bury her really deep,so no cats or dogs can get to her hope this helps you lot. from tracy-hamster lover
